Alice in Dairyland promotes National Ice Cream Month at The Pearl
LA CROSSE (WKBT) — July is National Ice Cream Month and Wisconsin’s newest department of agriculture ambassador is inviting you to snag a scoop.
Taylor Schaefer is the 75th Alice in Dairyland. For the next year, she will travel to places like La Crosse’s The Pearl to promote the state’s over $100 billion dairy industry.
If you’re going out for a scoop or two this month, Schaefer says to look for the “Proudly Wisconsin Dairy” badge.
“That signifies that your product is made here in the state,” Schaefer said. “It’s not only a sustainable and delicious decision, but it also helps drive local communities and support Wisconsin’s producers, processors, and small businesses.”
Schaefer says Wisconsinites enjoy over 21 million gallons of ice cream every year. The average American eats about four gallons a year, according to the International Dairy Foods Association.
