Alcohol a factor in Monroe County crash
TOWN OF PORTLAND, Wis. (WKBT) — Investigators suspect alcohol was a factor in a single-vehicle crash on Hwy. 33 in Monroe County that left a man injured.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, police were called at about 10:30 p.m. to a rollover crash near the intersection of Highways 33 and PC in the town of Portland.
Investigators say Andrew Weiker, 38, was driving west in a 2003 Ford F150 when he entered the shoulder on the north side of the highway, then overcorrected. He crossed Hwy. 33 and exited the road on the south side, then the vehicle rolled one and three-quarter times before coming to a rest on the passenger side, according to the sheriff’s office.
Weiker, who was thrown from the truck during the crash, was seriously injured and transported by Gundersen AIR to a local hospital.
