Meet The Team

Chris PalmerChris began his career at WTOL TV in Toledo, Ohio as an account executive.  He has also worked at TV stations in Las Vegas, Orlando and Memphis in various sales and management roles.  For almost a decade Chris worked for a media technology company and consulted with hundreds of television stations around the country.  During this time I worked with over 100 stations and visited 47 states.

Chris is a graduate of The University of Toledo and The Ohio State University.

Chris has been married to his wife Anne since 1998.  They have 3 children (Jackson 12, Grant 12, and Chase 10).

Favorite movie?  Anything by Martin Scorsese.

Do you have a personal motto or quote that inspires you?   Get Up, Dress Up, Show Up

Favorite way to spend a day off?  With my family doing anything they want to.

Why do you love your job?   I enjoy business and how companies work.  In my career I have had the opportunity work with many great small, medium and large companies.  Now I have the opportunity to take what I have learned and run my own company.

Favorite food?  Italian

Favorite vacation spot?   Virgin Gorda, BVI

Favorite book?  The Bible and anything by John Grisham or Stephen King

Scott Kellum

Scott began his career at KTVO in Kirksville, Mo as an Account Executive and worked his way up to Local Sales Manager,  even spending time On-Air as a Morning Show Co-Host.  He has also worked in Quincy, Il., The Quad Cities, and Springfield, Il in Management Roles.  Scott was born in Marshfield, Wi. and is happy to be back in my favorite state.  Scott is a graduate of Western Illinois University with degrees in English Literature and Marketing.

Scott has been married to his Wife since 2009 and have two wonderful boys.

Favorite movie?  The Good, The Bad, And the Ugly

Do you have a personal motto or quote that inspires you?   What Gets Measured, Gets Done.

Favorite way to spend a day off?  Hunting, Outdoors

Why do you love your job?   I grew up in the industry and loved watching my mother make connections with business owners, for me its carrying on the torch and getting to build relationships in the community.

AgAshley Gebhart is a La Crosse, Wisconsin native, graduating from Central High School and then getting her undergraduate degree from The University of Minnesota. Before joining Phase 3 digital, Ashley spent 8 years working with a diverse list of A-list clients in Los Angeles, CA and brings back to the Midwest her Web Development, Graphic Design and Digital Marketing experience from the West Coast.

Here at Phase 3 Digital, Ashley works closely with both our sales and fulfillment teams to ensure that client expectations are clearly conveyed and that campaign strategies are crafted around achieving their goals.

Ashley’s love for the midwest brought her back home to La crosse where she enjoys being outdoors, running (2 half marathons, and 1 full marathon), spending time with family, friends, and every cute dog that crosses her path.

Julia AllenJulia Allen is a Wisconsin Native born and raised in La Crosse, Wisconsin. After High School she went on to attend St. Norbert College in Green Bay Wisconsin with a degree in Graphic Design and Marketing. Prior to graduating Julia held an internship at an advertising agency in the La Crosse area, which grew her passion for the field.

Within Phase 3 Digital, Julia works collaboratively with the digital marketing specialist and sales team to fulfill client campaigns and expectations. Her creative and marketing experience helps to assist in meeting the goals of each client.

Outside of work Julia enjoys spending lots of time outdoors now that she is back in her hometown of La Crosse.

Allison Steers 3Allison started her media career in 2003 in Dayton, Ohio selling Yellow Pages advertising (yes, these used to be very popular) and eventually digital advertising. She spent 8 years in various roles including inside sales, outside sales, and was the field training manager for the Midwest. After a variety of promotions led her to La Crosse, WI, she decided that the travel was too much at the time and joined a local company with less travel. Allison then worked at Kaplan in education sales, sales management, and project management. After 9 years at Kaplan she decided to go back to what she loved, helping local businesses with marketing strategies and lead generation. Allison is now a Marketing Consultant for Morgan Murphy Media.

Allison is very involved in her local community, including past president of the Women’s Alliance of La Crosse, past president of the 7 Rivers Referral Group (a networking group to help local businesses succeed), and a volunteer for United Way’s Junior Achievement program.
Allison received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Management from the University of Dayton. She also earned a Master’s of Science in Management, with a focus in Project Management, from Kaplan University.

Allison resides in Onalaska with her husband Nate who has been employed at Trane for the past 17 years. They have 3 children (Kyle 13, Kaitlyn 11, and Jaxson 6) and 2 boxer’s, Brutus and Jasmine. In her free time, her family enjoys traveling, biking, boating, and skiing.

Favorite band? Depends on my mood. Elton John, Dr. Dre, Creedence Clearwater, Queen, Madonna, Billy Joel, Tina Turner, Santana , I could go on and on……

Favorite movie? Almost Famous

Do you have a personal motto or quote that inspires you? “Life is 10% of what happens to me and 90% how I react to it”

Favorite way to spend a day off? On the river, boating with friends in the summer and on the hills skiing in the winter.

Why do you love your job? The connections and relationships that I have with my clients are the best part of my job. I love to see their business win with strategies that we create together!

Carrie BrettingenCarrie is the senior marketing consultant with WKBT/Phase 3 Digital. Her 20+ years of customer service and team leadership have helped her develop a drive to help the businesses she works with. Carrie has always had an interest in marketing! While she began her media career in 2006, she was instrumental in past positions in creating newsletters, sales ideas and successful campaigns. Need an idea or new concept? Not sure where to start? Carrie will help you brainstorm ideas and create a campaign(s) to deliver measurable results.

Why do you love your job? I get to help businesses of all sizes grow! The creativity of not only helping develop complete campaigns but also seeing them come to fruition. I enjoy seeing the success my clients receive and knowing I’ve helped them get there. I get to learn about many different industries and build lasting relationships with my clients. Yes…I also love to see my commercials on TV!

Interesting Fact: When Carrie began her career, her Mom said it was perfect! When she was a toddler, she’d stop playing when the commercials came on and stand in front of the TV. As soon as they were over, she’d go back to playing. So yes, she has always had an interest in marketing!

Favorite activities: Spending time with family and friends, gardening, hiking and boating. She’s still trying to find a fun winter activity that doesn’t involve going out in the cold!

Erik SjolanderSince 2006, Erik has had multiple roles in broadcast media. He worked for a local radio station group for twelve years during which time he served as an account executive, digital fulfillment coordinator, and general sales manager. Erik is the Sponsorships & Business Develepment Executive at WKBT. In this role, he works with our media consultants to create strategies that achieve the goals of our advertisers.

Outside of work, Erik enjoys volunteering and serving the community. He currently serves on two sub-committees for the City of Onalaska and is the president of the Onalaska High School Alumni Association. Erik also serves as a member of the ministry outreach team at Good Shepherd in Holmen. His previous volunteer experience includes two terms as a First District Alderperson for the City of Onalaska, six years as a board member and field director with the Miss Wisconsin Scholarship Organization, and two years as co-director of the Miss Onalaska Scholarship Program.

Erik and his wife, Amy, live in Onalaska with their two sons, Karsen and Dawson.

Favorite Band: Pink Floyd and Van Halen are my all-time favorites.

Favorite Movie: I’m a history buff but mostly war films.

JulieJulie Schmidt has been helping local businesses grow in the Coulee Region for over a decade. She has an extensive background in traditional and non-traditional advertising and a love for all things digital. She believes her customers come first and is passionate about helping businesses exceed their goals. Julie loves collaborating with local business owners and determining strategies that result in an increase in profits. She loves meeting new people and is encouraged by any challenge.

In her free time, Julie loves to rough house and jump on her trampoline with her 7-year-old son. In her downtime, she likes to read and watch scary movies.

Steve Roth

Steve began his advertising career as an Account Executive selling cable advertising in Los Angeles and Southern California. Moving back to the La Crosse area, Steve began his broadcast advertising career with WKBT News 8. After a couple of other media opportunities, Steve is now back Home with WKBT News 8.

Steve graduated from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse with a Business degree and a major in Marketing.

Steve has been married to his wife Leslie since 1999. They have three children, Morgan, Amber and Shane.

John SchmidtJohn Schmidt earned a degree in Visual Communications from Western Technical College where he graduated with High Honors. He started his videography career in news as a news videographer. During his 5 years in news he earned numerous awards for excellence in video from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association and the Midwest Broadcast Journalism Association. After that, he moved into News and Station Promotions where he worked with both community members and news anchors to create award-winning news and station promotions. John then became the Creative Services Coordinator, taking the lead on commercial and promotions production. With his 8+ years of experience, he has built a reputation for top-notch video production and client relations.

Img 1765 7Garrett Dittrich has a bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Multimedia Design from the University of Wisconsin Stout. After college, he moved out west with some buddies to California, which only last about 6 months before he moved back to Wisconsin. After that, he joined went back to school to obtain an Associates Degree in Graphic Design from Waukesha County Technical College. About a month after graduation, an alum from Stout told him about a job opportunity in La Crosse. It was for the creative services position here at News 8. Where he’s now been for going on 3 years.

Favorite movie? Captain America, Winter Soldier
