Adaptive show choir camp hitting the right notes for people of all abilities
ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT)- People of all abilities are getting the opportunity to take part in show choir.
The 10th-ever “Abilities in Harmony” Show Choir camp is taking place this week at Onalaska High School.
The camp is the idea of Onalaska graduate Sierra Lyon.
She started it several years ago to give kids who wouldn’t normally be able to participate in their school’s show choir, the chance to be part of a performance.
The camp continues to grow and inspire.
“So I started this camp after I spent some time with a family with special needs and I saw how much they loved to sing and dance and thought they should have the same opportunity I do to appear on stage,” said Lyon.
The kids will put together everything they’ve learned over the past two days into a performance Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Onalaska High School. Everyone is welcome to attend.
There are plans to expand the camps to even more cities this summer.
