St Charles police issue shelter in place request

UPDATED STORY

ST. CHARLES, Minn. (WKBT) – Residents near Meadow Drive in St Charles were asked to lock their doors and report suspicious activity Thursday.

Winona County Emergency Management issued a shelter in place request at the request of St Charles Police, initially sent countywide at 12:04 p.m., but was intended only for St. Charles, officials said.

Residents in the Meadow Drive area were asked to lock their doors and report any suspicious activity while St Charles Police searched for a white male, approximately 6’ 3″, slender build, wearing a black T-shirt and jean shorts. He was last seeing running west bound toward Hwy. 74 from Meadow View Drive. Police say he fled after officers attempted to stop him for traffic violations.

Police do not believe he presents a risk to public safety. Residents should not approach if they see a subject matching his description, but instead should call law enforcement.
