Viroqua man's gun discharged, bullet struck Florida man's leg
VERNON COUNTY, Wis. (WKBT) — A 42-year-old man from Florida was shot in the leg when man from Viroqua’s gun accidentally discharged, according to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.
Antonio A. Cruz, 71, was unloading his gun outside of his residence in the Town of Sterling Sunday evening when the firearm accidentally discharged, the Sheriff’s Office said. The bullet went through the glass door to the residence and struck 42-year-old Joseph I. Connell in the left leg.
Connell was transported to Gundersen Health System by Tri-State Ambulance.
The Wheatland First Responders, Tri-State Ambulance, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
