A Winona State University student passed away Saturday
WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) — A 20-year-old Winona State University student passed away Saturday.
The university says Mary Sullivan, of Milwaukee, has been at WSU since 2014 and was majoring in Exercise and Rehabilitative Sciences: Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation.
The Winona Police Department says there is no safety threat to the community and no foul play is suspected, however the police department is still investigating the cause of Sullivan’s death alongside the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. Officials say Sullivan’s death did happen on campus in a dorm room.
The university is offering counseling and support services to all students.
Denise McDowell, Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Life, released a statement saying, “Each member of our community of learners plays a vital role, and I know that Mary will be missed by many. I ask all members of the Winona State community to keep Mary and her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. Please reach out to those who may be suffering, and come together to remember Mary’s life and the good times you shared.”
