A Thanksgiving tradition: 15th annual Festival Foods Turkey Trot
LA CROSSE (WKBT) — Runners worked off their Thanksgiving meal before sitting down at the table.
2,500 people laced up their shoes for the 15th annual Festival Foods Turkey Trot.
People of all ages ran and walked on Thanksgiving morning.
The last wave of the trot was the cutest of them all.
Local pups closed out the event with a ‘dog jog’.
Race organizers say the Turkey Trot is important to communities across the nation because it’s the perfect package deal.
“While you’re doing it you’re raising some money for your local YMCA and Boys & Girls Club and you get to have your great family tradition and you do some good for the community while you’re doing it,” said Race Director Vern Weisensel.
This year was the ninth year the Festival Foods Turkey Trot kicked off at the Onalaska Omni Center.
