Surface Map

Good evening… it was another stormy night across the area as a line of gusty shower and t-storms moved across the region early this morning. The good news is they exited early this morning, allowing the sun to make an appearance this afternoon.

Weekend Forecast

Tomorrow's Highs South

Tomorrow's Highs North

Our weekend is looking rather nice. Look for plenty of sunshine Saturday as highs top out in the upper 70s to lower 80s in the south and the upper 70s across the north. Unfortunately, a weak disturbance will bring a slight chance of showers and t-storms to the region Saturday night. The highest rain chances look to be focused across the northern half of the area. Look for lows in the middle to upper 50s.

We’ll start Sunday with a slight chance of showers and t-storms. However, I am expecting the sun to make a return for the afternoon. It will be a bit warmer as highs top out in the upper 70s to lower 80s region-wide.

8 Day Forcast

Looking ahead… Get ready for a roller coaster ride in the temperature department. It will start Monday as a cool front approaches the area from the northwest. Very warm and moist air will get pulled northward ahead of the front. The result will be a hot and humid day. Look for highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s.

That front will move into the area Tuesday and bring a good chance of showers and t-storms to the area. There is a complicating factor and that is Tropical Storm Cristobel in the Gulf of Mexico. Some forecast models have the remnants of this tropical storm moving northward into the area Tuesday. If this occurs the result would be a surge of tropical moisture into the front that could cause heavy rain to fall. This could lead to the possibility of flooding. It is still too early to get specific about rain totals, but it is certainly something that will need to be watched closely. Look for highs in the middle 80s Tuesday.

By Wednesday, most of the rain will have moved east. However, we’ll keep a small chance of showers and t-storms in the forecast for any lingering rain. The big story then turns to temperatures. Look for cooler air to start filtering into the region. As a result, highs Wednesday will drop into the middle and upper 70s.

Look for highs only in the lower 70s for Thursday and Friday before returning to near 80 by next weekend.

Have a great night and a great weekend! –WKBT Cory Malles
