A new way to run COVID testing sites
Now that the county health department is working alone they are focusing on changing how they operate.
LA CROSSE, Wis (WKBT) – The La Crosse County Health Department is trying to change how they run COVID-19 testing sites.
On Saturday, there was an indoor testing event at Logan High School. There were 1,000 available tests, but because of some unforeseen issues with transporting tests, the event had to end a bit early.
Previous testing sites were held with the help of the Wisconsin National Guard. But now that the county health department is working alone they are focusing on changing how they operate.
“We’re trying to develop a new strategy. We are focusing on trying to bring tests to different parts of the community, different demographic populations and different geographic populations,” said Michael Horner-Ibler, the testing strategy coordinator for the La Crosse County Health Department.
There will be another drive-thru and walk-up testing event on Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. That will be at the Health and Human Services building in downtown La Crosse.
