Today's Almanac

Good evening… I was hoping we would see a bit of sun this afternoon, but the clouds hung tight. To add insult to injury, it was another cool day with highs in the 30s and 40s. Our attention now turns to a weak disturbance dropping out of the Dakotas. This system is slowly weakening as it moves toward the area.

Tonight's Forecast

Tonight's Lows North

Tonight's Lows South

As we head into tonight, look for clouds associated with that system to move in this evening. By late tonight, there is a slight chance we could see a flurry or light snow shower or two. However, the chances look rather small at this time. Look for lows tonight to range from the middle to upper 20s as winds decrease to nearly calm.

Tomorrow's Forecast

Tomorrow's Highs South

Tomorrow Highs North

Clouds from that disturbance will linger over the region tomorrow, especially during the morning. As the day wears on, they should start to break up a bit, allowing for a partly sunny sky. It will be another chilly day as highs remain stuck in the upper 30s to middle 40s

8 Day Forecast

Looking ahead… we are in for a roller coaster ride in the temperature department this weekend. It will start Halloween Saturday as a strong warm front moves across the region. The result will be a breezy and mild Saturday under a mix of clouds and sun. Look for highs in the upper 40s to middle 50s. Hang on to your hats as south winds at 15 to 25 mph, with gusts to 30 mph. Just as quickly as the warm air arrives it will depart. This will occur Saturday evening as a strong cool front blasts across the region. Temperatures will tumble into the 20s Saturday night on gusty west to northwest winds. We could see a few sprinkles or flurries Saturday night, but for now, we will keep things dry.

Sunday looks to be a blustery and raw day. Look for a mix of clouds and sunshine. Temperatures will only manage the middle and upper 30s. Unfortunately, northwest winds at 15 to 25 mph, with gusts to 40 mph will only add to the chill. Sunday sounds like a good day for chili or a big pot of chicken soup.

Fortunately, things start to look up as we head into next week. A change in the upper air pattern will allow warmer air to build into the region. We’ll start out in the middle to upper 40s Monday. But, by Tuesday, we’ll see highs rise into the middle 50s to near 60. The mercury will remain in the middle 50s to lower 60s Wednesday and Thursday before cooling back into the lower to middle 50s by next Friday.

As we’ve mentioned before, not only will we see mild stretch of weather next week, we’ll also see a dry period as the main storm track gets shunted north. With a little luck, much of next week could turn out to be a beautiful start to the month of November.

Have a great night! -WKBT Cory Malles
