A Bit Cooler Today… But Still Above Average
Tuesday/Wednesday Snow Chances Trending South
Monday’s Forecast High: 41F / Tonight’s Low: 28F…
What a beautiful February weekend we had with lots of sunshine and well above average temps. The high in La Crosse was 43F on Saturday, then 49F on Sunday. A few spots even managed 50+ degrees!
Today will be a bit cooler with a mix of sun and clouds. Highs will be in the upper 30s to low 40s, which is still above average. Our average high in La Crosse for February 24th is 35F.
Becoming mostly cloudy tonight. Lows will mainly be in the 20s. The storm system we’ve been tracking for the past several days is trending south. As a result, the chances for snow in our area for Tuesday and Wednesday is decreasing.
The way it looks as of Monday morning is just a slight chance of light snow showers or flurries from Tuesday afternoon through about midday Wednesday, mainly across southern and southeastern parts of the viewing area. This would result in just minor if any snow accumulations in most areas, perhaps around an inch near and south of the Wisconsin River. The better chances for accumulating snow will be across far SE Wisconsin, Eastern & SE Iowa and Northern Illinois.
It will be breezy and turning colder Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs will still be in the mid 30s Tuesday, then drop into the upper 20s Wednesday. Winds will make it feel even colder.
Looking Ahead… Dry, but chilly Thursday and Friday with partly sunny skies. Highs will only be in the low-mid 20s, with overnight lows in the single digits to low teens.
Temps warm heading into next weekend with highs around 30F Saturday, then upper 30s on Sunday. Expect partly cloudy skies Saturday, with increasing clouds on Sunday.
Another system could bring some light rain or mix on Monday, then light snow or mix on Tuesday. Highs will be in the low 40s Monday, cooling into the upper 30s Tuesday.
Have a good Monday and a great week ahead! -Bill Graul
