96th Assembly District Seat to be contested
Democrat Alicia Leinberger announces her candidacy for seat
VIROQUA, Wis. (WKBT) — The 96th Assembly District seat is being contested this coming election season.
Democrat Alicia Leinberger, a resident of Viroqua, officially announced her plans to run against incumbent Republican Lee Nerison.
Nerison has occupied the seat since 2004, but Leinberger says she’s more representative of those in her district.
“The people in the 96th District have cooperative values and they are very resilient by using communities to stick together and support each other,” said Leinberger.
Leinberger says she’s gained experience through 25 years serving in the Peace Corps, working through trade and market issues with dairy farmers and producers, and even running her own small business with renewable energy.
