8-year-old child missing in Vernon County woods found safe

TOWN OF STERLING, Wis. (WKBT) – A missing 8-year-old was found safe after getting separated from her family Monday morning.

According to the Vernon County Sheriff, an 8-year-old girl went on a walk with her sisters and got separated in the woods near County Road N in the Town of Sterling. Upon calling authorities, she had been missing for an hour already, according to the release.

Along with the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department, six other agencies responded to locate the girl, including a civilian K9 handler with a bloodhound.

Once on scene, crews quickly located the girl and brought her back to her family. The child only sustained minor injuries.
