500+ Town of Campbell families ask Wisconsin DNR for bottled water
TOWN OF CAMPBELL, Wis. (WKBT)- More than 500 families in the Town of Campbell have signed up to receive bottled water from the Wisconsin DNR.
A spokeswoman tells News 8 Now, the state agency started delivering water last week after it issued a drinking water advisory for the Town. Close to 200 private wells have tested positive for PFAS. The man-made compounds were used to produce the fire fighting foam sprayed at the La Crosse Regional Airport and have been linked to infertility, Thyroid disease, and cancer. The drinking water advisory will remain in effect for at least the next 90 days while the DNR investigates the extent and sources of contamination.
