Talking with your kids about the pandemic

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT)- All these changes during the pandemic are difficult for many adults, but even more so for our kids. That includes being away from the routine of school and not being able to spend time with friends in person.

When explaining to kids what’s happening, experts say parents should use age appropriate terms.

They also say what kids learn now can help them develop some good habits for years to come.

“Even some hands-on representation of how to wash their hands appropriately. I think this is a great time to be teaching that as well,” said Mayo Clinic Health System Psychotherapist Karen Hall.

It’s also recommended to remind kids the pandemic will end and they will be able to return to school and friends in time.
