$400,000 fundraising campaign supports ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ program in La Crosse schools
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The La Crosse Public Education Foundation launched a $400,000 fundraising campaign to create a permanent fund to support ‘Random Acts of Kindness‘ in La Crosse public schools.
Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) is a program that helps students in need.
School staff are able to discreetly provide kids with things like clothing, school supplies, hygiene products, and field trip fees – no questions asked.
Educators said Tuesday they’ve seen the difference this program makes for students and families.
“Kids come with different needs and things get in the way of doing their best in school. So when we are able to identify a need and use RAK to help support that student and family with that need, great things happen. Kids… you see their smiles. You see parents relieved from stress,” said school counselor Becky Lueck, Southern Bluffs Elementary.
LPEF has already raised more than $300,000 for its campaign, exceeding the original goal set by the LPEF Board of Directors.
There is just $100,000 to go – you can help reach its goal by visiting RAKForever.org.
