4-6 Sports Spotlight: UWL’s Isabelle Kick

Let’s continue our Sports Spotlight segment, in which we give our local senior athletes a chance to be recognized, since they’re unable to play their final season of competition. You at home get to decide who gets put in the Sports Spotlight by sending Sports Director Ken Kosirowski your nominations, and the latest nomination comes from UWL associate professor Mike Abler and UWL women’s head track coach Nick Davis.

Isabelle Kick is the latest to be put in the Sports Spotlight. Kick has been a captain for the top-ranked UWL women’s track team for the past two years. She’s just the second female Eagle ever to be a two-time captain.

She led the Eagles to two WIAC titles, and this season she qualified for indoor nationals in the 60 meter hurdles before COVID-19 cut it short.

The Luther grad was ranked 13th in all of NCAA Division III this season and ranks fifth all-time in UWL history in the 60 meter hurdle.

Coach Davis says she’s one of the most selfless, dedicated and supportive leaders he’s seen in his time as a coach. While she may not get to race again for the Eagles, Kick is set for the next stage of her life, as she’ll be attending dental school at Marquette University next fall.

If you have an athlete you know who you feel should be nominated, head to our sports page at news8000.com. and click on our Sports Spotlight story. There you’ll be invited to fill out our official nomination form. You can also send Ken an email (kkosirowski@wkbt.com) with any photos and videos of your athlete that you’d like him to include on-air.
