4-2 Sports Spotlight: Wauzeka-Steuben’s Jake Reichmann

We continue our new Sports Spotlight segment, in which we give our local senior spring athletes a chance to be recognized, since they’re unable to play their last season. Today’s nomination comes from Donald Peterson in Wauzeka.

It’s Wauzeka-Steuben’s Jake Reichmann in the Sports Spotlight.

He’s been a three-year starter on the varsity baseball team at second base. Last spring he led the team with a .388 batting average and 16 RBIs.

Reichmann is a year-round athlete as well. In fall he was part of a Hornet cross country team that’s won three straight conference titles, and he qualified for individual state the last three years.

In the winter seasons, he was a three-year starter on varsity basketball. The Hornets won two straight conference titles and reached the sectional final before COVID-19 canceled it.  His last two years on the court he averaged 11 points a game, shot over 40 percent from downtown, earned two sportsmanship awards and was named All-Conference senior year.

He’s found success outside the world of sports, too. Last summer he represented his school at Badger Boys State, and he had the lead in the latest school musical.

Reichmann has put the time into his studies as well; he is class valedictorian and has been accepted to the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
