32nd annual Bi-State Classic starts Friday morning

No. 5 Holmen goes for its 1st-ever team win

55 teams and more than 700 wrestlers will be in town by Friday morning for the 32nd annual Bi-State classic.

It’s a tournament that continues to grow, something that makes Holmen coach Jason Lulloff very proud.

“I still think Bi-State is one of the marquee tournaments,” Lulloff said. “I think La Crosse has a great reputation. The division three national tournament for wrestling was here and that went off with a boom. It’s just a great venue- the location, the facilities, everything just works out well. We’re lucky to have that, and then we’re also lucky to have the people that want to staff it.”

Holmen is ranked fifth as a team this year. As strong of a program as they are, the Vikings have never won their own tournament.

“Every year, we’ve been– this is our year to win it, this is our year to win it, and here I am again, saying the same thing, we have a chance to win it- win our own event for the first time. One of these years, we’re going to pull through, we’re going to get it!”
