300 kids enjoy ‘Safe Trick-or-Treat’ event

The event was hosted by the Viterbo Education Club

Students at Viterbo University gave local kids an alternative way to celebrate the otherwise spooky holiday of Halloween.

Viterbo’s Education Club hosted its annual ‘Safe Trick-or-Treat’ event Sunday afternoon. The kids got to go through a haunted house, go trick-or-treating in the dorms and decorate cookies.

One member said to make this event a reality, local community members and students helped out.

“We have a lot of different communities that come together for this. We have West Salem, La Crosse, all the surrounding areas come here so the kids get to experience fun activities with kids they aren’t usually at school with,” said Ashley Thornton, co-president of Viterbo’s Education Club.

About 300 kids attended the event.
