3 killed in Columbia County crash identified

Rescuers found 4 people trapped in car

Three people killed in a crash near Portage Sunday evening have been identified.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Department identified those killed in the crash as Zia Lynn Rowin, 18, of Oxford; Donald K.C. Pangburn, 26, of Baraboo; and Jack W.L. Stalker, 19, of Montello.

Deputies were called around 9 p.m. Sunday to a rollover crash along County Highway P at Whitetail Drive in the town of Pacific. The town of Pacific is about 3 miles south of Portage.

Rescuers found four people trapped in a Buick LeSabre. Rowan was driving. She, Pangburn and Stalker were pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, a 19-year-old from Montello, was taken to UW Hospital by Medflight and remains hospitalized there.

Deputies said speed is believed to be a significant factor in the crash.

The crash is under investigation by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
