$25 million dollar renovation of UWL’s Wittich Hall nears completion
Wittich Hall is the second oldest on the UWL campus
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A $25 million renovation project is nearly done for one of the oldest building on the UW-La Crosse campus.
Work on Wittich Hall started in 2018 and will wrap up later this summer.
When completed, the more than century old building will house the College of Business Administration.
The building started its life as a physical education building housing a gymnasium and pool.
Now the building has classroom spaces, offices and study space.
While the inside will look a lot different, the building history is not forgotten.
“The offices were basically built right on top of the gym floors. So as you walk down the hallways in some of the departments, you will see the painted lines on the gym floor,” said Scott Schumacher, UW-La Crosse Associate director of planning and construction.
Wittich Hall was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
