2022 Coulee Region Mardi Gras Rex and Queen crowned

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Mardi Gras celebrations are kicking off with the crowning of this year’s Coulee Region Rex and Queen.

Greg and Amy Sutton were introduced as the royal couple at the Freighthouse Wednesday night.

Greg is an engineer at the Trane Company, and Amy teaches preschool for Aquinas and Saint Patrick schools.

The couple will be a part of all the big local festivals in 2022.

“We’re part of the parades, we’re throwing beads to people along the streets who just love getting beads, and so we’re really just part of wanting to help build community, strong community, strong families,” Greg said. “It’s really what we’re all about and so we’re excited to be a part of that.”

The royal couple will preside over the Mardi Gras costume ball on Feb. 19 at the Radisson ballroom.
