2018 football preview: Viroqua Blackhawks

The Viroqua football team’s last playoff appearance was in 2004. To end the drought this season, the Blackhawks will have to rely on their rushing attack.

Viroqua was the 2nd best running team in the Coulee Conference last season, averaging 275 yards a game on the ground. Junior Tyler Hannah is the top returning running back for Viroqua. Hannah ran for 1,069 yards and 5 touchdowns in 2017.

“Our offensive line is probably going to be our biggest focal point on the offensive side of the ball. All of them come back with experience. They are going to open holes so Tyler can run. That is why he was able to get a thousand yards because the guys up front and our fullbacks,” Hannah said.

“I think we are pretty good this year actually. We have a lot of returning players and a lot of new ones that are going to help out a lot. Everyone has been working out this summer so everyone got a little better,” senior offensive lineman Braxton Cary said.
