2016 Football Preview: Viroqua Blackhawks
VIROQUA, Wis. (WKBT) — There are many positives as Viroqua heads into the 2016 season. A strong offensive and defensive line, a switch to a new 4-3 defense, and returning plenty of experience on both sides of the football.
“Our line is probably going to be our heart and soul of our offense and our defense,” said head coach Bill Hannah. “Those seniors have spent a lot of time in the weight room this summer, they’ve gotten kids together to run some captain practices and do those extra things that will hopefully give us some success this year.”
Things are beginning to look up for Hannah as he enters his third season as head coach. The rebuilding process may begin to start showing signs of the hard work and effort players have been putting in the past couple of years.
“There’s just a lot of camaraderie built between us. We’ve been through countless losses and I mean we’re just kind of sick of it. We want to turn it around and I think this is the year to do it,” said senior lineman Harley Springborn.
