2015 Packers Tailgate Tour: Prairie du Chien
PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. (WKBT) — It was a picture perfect night for Lambeau legends to invade The Barn in Prairie du Chien. Packers mania ensued, including the biggest cheer of the evening coming for former UW-La Crosse and Green Bay wide receiver Bill Schroeder.
“I tell you what, anytime I get to get back to the west side close to La Crosse, it is great for me,” said Schroeder. “We do not get to meet a lot the fans from this side on this side of the state. It is great to be on the tailgate tour, and celebrate this organization with the local fans.”
Schroeder, 44, was joined by Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy, current players Andrew Quarless, Micah Hyde and Casey Hayward, and Packers alumni Gilbert Brown, Dave Robinson and Jerry Kramer.
“When Billy Schroeder was playing for the Packers, to us he was a local boy,” said Prairie du Chien resident Linda McCullick. “He saw me in the crowd, and I was so glad I had his jersey on.”
Chatter from the packed crowd had the members of the Packers new look secondary busy at the microphone.
“I have learned a lot these past three years about how to be a pro,” said Packers cornerback Casey Hayward. “Learning from Tramon (Williams), Sam (Shields) and those guys helped a lot. I asked Micah (Hyde) to actually come down to Atlanta to train with me for a week. Micah is one of my good friends on the team, and I think we can do a great job.”
