2 Sparta women cited for retail theft
SPARTA, WI — Sparta police issued citations for retail theft to two women attempting to leave Wal-Mart with unpaid merchandise on July 22 at about 7:30 p.m.
Cynthia Guynes, 36, of Sparta, concealed about $500 worth of merchandise in a duffel bag, police said, but she was stopped by Wal-Mart Loss prevention employees.
She attempted to leave and meet up with Sandra Levit, 45, of Sparta, who was in the store with a duffel bag full of items, police said. She returned them when she realized Guynes had been caught.
Video surveillance later showed Levit took unpaid lawn care items and placed them in the box of her pickup truck, according to police. Guynes and Levit were both cited for retail theft.
