100 year old Winona State alum finally receives diploma
WINONA, Minn.– It only took 81 years, but a Winona woman now has her college diploma in her hands.
Jo Edstrom celebrated her 100th birthday last Sunday. In 1930, she graduated from Winona State University with a degree in kindergarten education.
Instead of going to her graduation ceremony, Jo accepted a teaching job in South Dakota and never received her official W-S-U diploma. But Friday night, that all changed during a formal ceremony with the university’s president.

Jo will also be inducted as the charter member of the new WSU Alumni Society Century Club for graduates over the age of 100.
