’10 Days of Giving’ helps those in need in Winona
WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) — A food donation drive is underway to help those in need in Winona.
The 31st annual ‘Ten Days of Giving’ drive supports the food shelf programs run by Winona Volunteer Services.
The food shelf distributed nearly a half million pounds of food to people in need.
Donations of non-perishable food and money can be dropped off at Merchants Bank locations in Winona.
Picking items to donate is as easy as buying your favorite foods.
“If people like certain items of food, donate it, because chances are out of the 800 families we’re serving, somebody is going to like that item that you may think is kind of, somewhat special,” said Sandra Burke, Winona Volunteer Services executive director.
More than 3.5 million pounds of food have been donated in the first thirty years of the drive.
