$1.1. million dollar grant provides out of this world opportunity for Winona State

Grant comes form the NASA Solar System Workings program

WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) – A $1.1 million grant will give a Winona State professor an out of this world opportunity.

The grant will support WSU professor Jennifer Anderson work.

She researches how things under the surface of the moon are impacted when meteors strike the surface.

The grant comes from NASA’s Solar Systems Workings program.

A pair of alumni and a current student from the university helped in the grant process.

An additional $198,000 sub-grant will help fund the opportunity for students.

“It’s really neat to be able to give undergraduates the opportunity to go down and see what an actual national lab looks like, to get them to conferences and meeting scientists,” said Winona State University geoscience professor Jennifer Anderson.

This is the second time Anderson has received NASA funding.

The first time coming in 2016.
