Mike has been reporting and anchoring in La Crosse for more than 17 years.

He joined the News 8 team in 2004 after a 5 year stint at WXOW-TV. While working at the competition, he met his future wife out on a story, News 8 Morning Anchor Jennifer Livingston.

Mike grew up in Pewaukee, just outside of Milwaukee, and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he received a degree in Broadcast Journalism.

Before coming to La Crosse, he was the weekend producer at WKOW-TV in Madison. He also did an internship in the investigative unit at WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee.

Mike is an award-winning journalist whose reporting has taken him around the world.

In 2014, he traveled to Uganda, Africa to document a local mother helping carry on her son's dreams of providing clean water after his tragic death. And in 2005, Mike reported from Louisiana on local health care workers helping out in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

In 2008, Mike also had the opportunity to travel on the first-ever Freedom Honor Flight from La Crosse to Washington D.C. to follow a group of local World War Two veterans seeing their memorial for the first time.

Mike has been honored numerous times by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association, Associated Press and Northwest Broadcast News Association for his reporting.  In 2013, he was the executive producer of an hour-long program called "From Cruelty to Compassion" which looked at ways our community can deal with bullying and be more compassionate.  The program was awarded the prestigious Sigma Delta Chi national award from the Society of Professional Journalists.

In 2015, he and his wife Jennifer were awarded two Upper Midwest Regional Emmy Awards and the national Edward R. Murrow award for their documentary "Tears to Water." They accepted the Murrow at a ceremony in New York City.

Mike also likes to stay active in the community. He served on the Red Cross Board of Directors for 7 years and has emceed several other events for the station.

Favorite movie?
No way I can pick one, but Shawshank Redemption ranks near the top.

What sports team are you a big fan of?
Badgers and of course, Packers

What are you bad at and wish you could do better?
Remembering. Ask my wife. I have a horrible short-term memory. My singing voice isn't too hot either.

Do you have a hobby or collect anything special to you?
All I have time for these days is changing poopy diapers! I did love to play soccer back in the day, just don't have the time anymore. I also enjoy hacking up the golf course when I get a chance.

Favorite food?
Toss up between crab and lobster

What do you like about your job?
Everyday is something new. I've never gone home from work bored. You also get to do cool stuff (i.e. flying with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels or skydiving with the Army Golden Knights). I also love the people I work with!

Pizza. Sausage, pepperoni or everything on it?
Extra pepperoni, light on the sausage and definitely no mushrooms! (although I love em on steak)

Married to News 8 Morning Anchor Jennifer Livingston. 3 girls: Katelin, Finley, Quinn and one boy, Jack.
