The arctic air continues to sit over the Upper Midwest, and much of the country today. Lows this morning are in the single digits on either side of zero. Wind are sustained out of the W/NW at 5-15 mph, making it feel much colder. Wind chills range from -5°F to -20°F this morning. A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for the Chippewa Valley and Wabasha Co. until 9am today. Wind chills as cold as -30°F possible.
High pressure sits off to our west and will be the main controller of our weather today and tomorrow. Though we'll see plenty of sunshine, it will be cold sunshine. Highs today will top out in the low to mid teens with wind chills as cold as 15 degrees below zero.
Skies will remain clear to partly cloudy tonight, and temperatures will get even colder. Lows tonight will drop to near zero, but our outlying areas will drop into the single digits below zero. A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect once again tonight through Saturday morning for the Chippewa Valley. Wind chills as cold as -30°F possible.
Looking Ahead... Sunny to partly sunny skies can be expected once again on Saturday. Temperatures will remain cold with highs in the low teens, wind chills ranging from -10° to -20°F.
Clouds increase late Saturday night and Sunday ahead of an area of low pressure that will form over the southwestern parts of the U.S. Light snow will become likely beginning late Sunday morning and lasting through early Monday. Right now, snow totals look to be in the 1-4" range by Monday. Stay tuned for updates!
The rest of the workweek brings more cold and more snow chances. High temperatures remain in the teens through Wednesday, near 20 by the end of the week. Small chances of snow late Monday night & Tuesday... and then again Thursday night and Friday.
