Highway 9 west of Osage Iowa remains closed due to surface washout. Some basements were also impacted from high rainfall rates on Sunday. Additional showers and thunderstorms are possible this evening. These are not expected to make matters worse but could delay the fall of the water levels going into Tuesday. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Flood waters are still impacting numerous roads around the region. Drive carefully...especially after dark. Heed all Road closures and do not take chances. Most flood related deaths occur in vehicles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges...dips...or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream... even a small one...on foot or in a vehicle.
