9 am CST Wednesday...
The National Weather Service in La Crosse has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow...blowing snow and wind chills...which
is in effect from 9 PM this evening to 9 am CST Wednesday.
- Snow accumulations of 1 to 2...locally up to 3 inches...mainly
between 9 PM and 4 am. Highest amounts from Charles City and
Oelwein Iowa to Cuba City Wisconsin.
- Northwest winds of 10 to 20 mph and gusty later tonight and
Wednesday morning producing some blowing and drifting snow.
- Wind chills late tonight and Wednesday morning in the -15 to -25
range...coldest over the higher terrain areas of northeast Iowa.
- The snow...blowing and drifting snow will impact travel tonight
into Wednesday morning. The wind chills could result in frost
bite of exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means that
visibilities will be limited due to a combination of falling and
blowing snow. Strong winds and cold temperatures will generate low
winds chills. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia
if precautions are not taken. Use caution when traveling or out
tonight and Wednesday morning...especially in open areas. The
