Snow covering many Iowa roadways
Officials say roadways covered with snow in south-central and southeast Iowa and partially covered elsewhere are making travel hazardous.
The National Weather Service said Tuesday that the storm that generally covers southwest to northeast Iowa could leave up to 10 inches of snow in some spots, driven by winds gusting to 35 mph.
Travelers are urged to check road conditions by visiting http://www.511ia.org, calling 511 in Iowa or 800-288-1047 nationwide. So far no weather-related road closures have been reported.
Several school districts are closing early on Tuesday, and some cities, including Davenport, have declared snow emergencies.
