MARINETTE, Wis. (AP) -

Marinette County sheriff's officials say freezing rain, sleet and snow are making roads extremely hazardous and some impassable.

Authorities are urging residents to stay off the highways and they're asking towing companies to stop removing vehicles from the roads until conditions improve.

The state Department of Transportation's 511 website shows Highway 141 from Abrams to the Michigan state line is ice covered, as well as Highway 41 from Abrams to Marinette and Highway 8 from Armstrong Creek to 141.
