Perhaps the original "party-turned-surprise-wedding" belonged to Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, who invited 100 guests to a party at New York's Angel Orensanz Synagogue in 1997. Guests only learned they were attending the couple's wedding after they arrived.
