With Robert Downey Jr. back in theaters with "Iron Man 3," let's take a look at the actor's life and career so far.
2001: In July 2001, Downey pleaded no contest to a felony count of cocaine possession and a misdemeanor count for being under the influence of the drug, both stemming from his Palm Springs arrest, to avoid jail time. Instead, he was sent into drug rehabilitation and put on a three-year probation, benefiting from a new California law aimed at helping nonviolent drug offenders overcome their addictions instead of sending them to jail. The arrests cost him is role on "Ally McBeal" and other jobs.
