Ona's Knutson, Franzini share same goal: a title

ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) - 23296300

Theresa Knutson has scored a lot of goals. 208 to be exact. Sports Illustrated says that's the third-most ever.

"It's kind of a good feeling that, I don't know how to explain it. It just feels cool," the O/H/A senior said.

But there is still one goal she's missing: a title.

"All I really care about this year is just to get back where we finished last year and hopefully win it this year."

Onalaska has been to the state title game each of the last two years, but come up short.

We had a lot of fun and stuff but it hurts a little bit," Knutson said. "Looking back at it, people always are always like, how did it feel to lose? I want to this year for people to be like, oh, you won, congrats and stuff, so that's what I'm going for this year."

There's a new head Hilltopper to help get them there. After coaching the Onalaska and Avalanche boys, Tim Franzini takes over the Ona girls program.

"They needed a coach and I thought it'd be a good fit and so far, so good," he said. "I've really enjoyed it. The girls have been awesome. They've been dedicated, chomping at the bit to learn and be taught the game and that's pretty much what we've been doing and we're still throwing stuff at them and they're still absorbing it."

Franzini shares the same goal as Theresa. Not just get to state. Win it.

"I think the way he's coaching us right now is good for the team because we have a lot of potential right now and the way he's coaching, he's going to get us there," Knutson said.

"At that time, they certainly won't need any motivating with what they've experienced the last couple of years," said Franzini.
