OSHKOSH, Wis. (WKBT) - Most of the top high school football players in Wisconsin that are about to enter college are in Oshkosh this week. They're preparing for Saturday's Wisconsin Football Coaches Association All-Star Game.
If they thought they would have an easy summer before college, think again. Two-a-day practices began last Sunday.
Central's Mitchell Johnson-Martin and Holmen's Greg Rooney will represent our area in the Large Schools game.
"[It's] kind of like the last time I'll be totally associated with Central but at the same time, there are eight or nine of us that will be going to Duluth next year so it's kind of like a liftoff to succeed at the next level at Duluth also," Johnson-Martin said.
Ethan Young is part of a trio of Black River Falls players that will be featured in the Small Schools game.
"It meant a lot," Young said. "Kind of shows the success of Black River Falls. We have three guys on the team and one coach so it's pretty exciting. It kind of shows how good Tigers football has been the last few years."
Young, a UW-La Crosse recruit, is one of two quarterbacks on the North roster for the Small Schools game. C-FC's Cale Lisowski is a quarterback for the South.
The Small Schools game airs Saturday, July 19th at noon on WKBT. Then, the Large Schools game takes place at 5:00 p.m. Saturday. That game airs on WKBT's MyNetwork station, digital channel 8.2.
