Jordy Nelson continues Packers charity softball tradition

Receiver reiterates he hopes to stay in Green Bay

Jordy Nelson Charity Softball Game

APPLETON, Wis. (WKBT) - First, it was Brett Favre's. Then, it was Donald Driver's. Now, the Packers charity softball game bears the name of another fan favorite: wide receiver Jordy Nelson.

Around 8,000 fans packed Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton for the first annual Jordy Nelson Charity Softball Game.

"A lot of fun, a lot of support from the fans, had a great crowd, beautiful day," Nelson said. "Raised a lot of money so you can't ask for anything better and I appreciate the guys for coming out, the fans, everyone. It was a great first round and hopefully we can get bigger and better next year."

The question is, will there definitely be a "next year?" Nelson is a free agent after this season.

He reiterated he wants to stay, perhaps following in Driver's footsteps. So did Driver give him any advice?

"No, he texted me, I believe it was Friday I think. Told me good luck with it, have fun and I told him it's an honor to take it over from him and the legacy this game has and the guys that have been a part of it."
