ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Holmen's Brady Welvaert has announced his decision to play lacrosse at Augustana.
Welvaert is the first lacrosse player from the Coulee Region to be signed to play for a Division III or higher college program.
The 5' 11" Welvaert is a three-year letter winner and two-time team captain for the La Crosse Lightning, who compete in the Madison Area Lacrosse Association. The team finished the season with a 15-3 record this season behind Welvaert's team highs of 48 goals, 44 assists and 57 ground balls.
Welvaert was a team captain, four-year letter winner and two-time honorable mention all-conference selection in soccer at Holmen. He also earned four letters in hockey, competing for the Aquinas co-op. He was a team captain for the Avalanche and earned all-conference recognition and All-State honorable mention.
