ARLINGTON, Texas (WKBT) - La Crosse Aquinas graduate Bronson Koenig put together his strongest half of basketball in his bright and young career in Wisconsin's Final Four loss to Kentucky.
"I just felt comfortable in the game," he said. "The game has kind of slowed down for me right now and I just try to go in and be aggressive. It was freshman on freshman so I was pretty comfortable and I knew I could play my game."
Koenig scored four baskets in the first half, as Wisconsin led most of the first 20 minutes of play. The game announcers began calling the game a "coming out party" for the La Crosse native. But his spark off the bench wasn't enough.
"It was a great experience for us as a freshmen class and everybody on the whole team. I know we're really going to be hungry in the off-season after this loss. Our goal is to always win a National Championship and that won't change."
Koenig finished the game 4-10 from the field, tallying 11 points and one assist.
