MADISON, Wis. - Things appeared bleak for the Onalaska co-op hockey team entering the 3rd period of their WIAA girls hockey state semifinal matchup against River Falls co-op.
The Fusion built up a 3-0 lead heading into the final period of play in regulation.
6:39 into the 3rd, one of the most prolific high school scorers this nation has ever seen got things started. Theresa Knutson's 77th goal of her senior season put the Hilltoppers on the scoreboard.
Jacyn Reeves with 5:30 remaining knocked in a rebound on a power play to make the score 3-2.
Onalaska co-op sophomore Chazlyn Anderson then came on the scene to save the season. Anderson's goal with 4:52 left on the clock tied the score at 3-3.
Anderson wasn't done yet. She scored another goal in overtime giving the Onalaska co-op a 4-3 victory.
The Hilltoppers will play in their third consecutive state championship game on Saturday. Their opponent will be Green Bay East co-op and the game will start at noon.
