With the United States men's national team facing a big World Cup game against Germany on Thursday, they can count on at least one high-profile backer to do whatever it takes to advance.

Will Ferrell made a surprise appearance at a pre-game rally at bar in Recife, Brazil, on Wednesday, taking to the stage to psych up his fellow American fans.

Dressed in a USA soccer uniform, Ferrell told the crowd he planned to play in Thursday's match, in which the U.S. can guarantee advancing to the tournament's knockout stage with either a win or a tie.

"I'm honored to be playing tomorrow. I’m not going to lie to you, I’m not in the best shape, but I’m going to try my best and live up to the spirit of this American team," Ferrell told the crowd.

Then, inspired by now-banned Uruguay striker Luis Suarez's chomp of an Italian player's shoulder earlier this week, Ferrell made a promise.

"If the game gets close, I will bite, I bite will bite every tournament player if I have to," he said to cheers.

The U.S. can advance to the next stage of the tournament even if they lose to the favored Germans, depending on the outcome of the other Group G game pitting Portugal and Ghana.
