WINONA, Min. -

On Friday the Winona State softball team will make their 7th straight NCAA II tournament appearance.

Making that feat even more impressive this season is how young the Warriors are. They have only seven combined seniors and juniors on their roster.

"I though it was going to be a lot different, but it's softball. You play in high school and you play in college, it's the same game just a lot faster," says freshman outfielder Reed Karsten.

WSU also had to replace six starters and three All-Americans from last year's team.

"It was a team early that was really trying to find itself following the expectations of what they were replacing," says head coach Greg Jones. "When they gave that up and stopped trying to be something and just started to play the game their way is really when we took off."

Winona State's first round opponent will be Southeastern Oklahoma State. First pitch is set for 1:30 pm in Mankato.
