Central senior Ben Thornton enters his senior wrestling season with an amazing 146-and-two career record. He's a three-time Bi-State champion, 2012 WIAA state champion, and two-time state runner-up.
As Thornton prepares to add onto that legacy with the Red Raiders, he signs his National Letter of Intent with the Purdue Boilermakers on Thursday.
He selected Purdue over Brown, Princeton, and Eastern Michigan saying the opportunity to wrestle in the Big Ten was too good to pass on.
"I'm glad I signed with Purdue," said Thornton. "They've been recruiting me since my freshman year. When I went down there to visit it just felt right. And Big Ten wrestling is a pretty prestigious conference. I'm really excited to be a Boilermaker."
Thornton says he plans on majoring in pre-med, and that Purdue gives him a great opportunity to achieve his goals both in the classroom and on the mat.
