MADISON, Wis. (WKBT) -

It goes to show just how far great pitching can take you: a 30-0 record and a state championship.

Arcadia ace Taylor Haines made history in the WIAA Division 3 State Championship game. She struck out the first 13 batters she faced, and 17 in the game. As a senior, she graduates having left her mark in the record books (17 strikeouts is the second-most for a Division 3 State Tournament game) and leaves behind her school's first gold trophy in softball.

"A lot of good times, a lot of good memories and something I'll remember for a lifetime," she said.

"She's been huge," said senior Michaela Brueggen of her teammate. "She's been like our rock. Every time she's gone out there, she's pitched amazing."

"She's such an amazing pitcher and she's worked so hard this year," said senior Alyssa Pronschinske. "She worked so hard for us. Every day in practice she comes and she works hard and she brings it to the field. Her hard work, it shows. It pays off."
