The La Crosse Logan football program enters Friday's Level 3 game with six WIAA postseason victories in 14 playoff appearances. Four of those wins have come in 2013 and 2012.
The Rangers for the second straight year have advanced to the state quarterfinal round. Logan will host Mount Horeb/Barneveld this Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Swanson Field.
Behind center for the Rangers' playoff run these past couple of seasons is senior Mitch Schreiner. He took the reigns midway through last season. Logan's record since has been 13-3.
"I don't know if that's coincidence or what but we got a lot of guys around here who can make plays and done a good job contributing," said Schreiner.
Schreiner mostly played wide receiver before making the move to quarterback in 2012.
"I had my eyes on it, you always work for that but I was just looking whatever way I'd be able to help the team. I'd be happy to step in that role and junior year it came and I was just happy to be on the field."
"It's not just growth and maturity," said Logan head coach Casey Knoble. "It's tons of hard work and that's what's made him the athlete he's become.
"It's his leadership. He calms people in the huddle, he gets people in the right place. Just be the big brother in the huddle, which is what we need."
